A hiker explores the primary forest of the Otonga Cloud Forest Reserve, in the transitional slopes of the northwestern Andes of Ecuador. The area is a island of herpetological and avian diversity where farming has converted forest to pasture. The caretaker now works for the non-profit Otonga reserve as its caretaker; his children have received college internships in biological research.
