

The lowland Paca (Cuniculus paca) is a large rodent of the new world tropics found between central Mexico and Argentina. It is also known as the 'Huanta" (pronounced "want-tah") to Ecuadorians.
This adult, weighing about 25 pounds, was hunted by member of the community of La Boca, Ecuador on the Mataje River. The Mataje River forms the border between Ecuador and Colombia. ,
