These juvenile common squirrel monkeys (Saimiri sciureus), only weeks old, were orphaned by poachers and rescued before they were transported upriver. As a zoologist, I also obtained licensing by Ecuador's national park service (INEFAN) as a wildlife inspector. This credential allowed me to call local police and military into action where I witnessed illegal wildlife sales or abuse. Photographed on the Rio Napo near Puerto Pompeya Sur, western Amazon basin, Ecuador.
