Cesar Andy (left), former President of the lowland Quichua community of Capirona with elders. He led the resistance to petroleum development and set a managed course for community-based tourism.

Capirona became the model for the member communities of RICANCIE, a federation of lowland Quichua communities in the upper Napo basin dedicated to regulated tourism and cultural revitalization on their lands.

Images from the documentary project promoting the conservation work of local and indigenous communities, women and youth in the upper Amazon basin.
