The best experiences today continue to be my collaborations with fellow biologists and lingering with lowland Quichua friends on invitations to join their community work parties or "mingas." My photography focuses on place-based and cultural understandings of wilderness environments. As a visual artist and conservationist, I'm respond most to textures, and design elements that accompany images with ecological significance or story-telling value. My educational research examines the visual narrative as well. I'm grateful to the indigenous federations and community-based conservation groups who have facilitated my work and I enjoy donating visual media to assist them. It's also great joy to mentor young photographers as well. I'm motivated by intense curiosity and a deep appreciation for nature. I work hard to create aesthetically pleasing images that interpret meaningful concepts. Please click on the "CAPTION" tab below the portfolio images to learn the story behind each scene. I hope these photographs remind you of how much nature sustains us. |
